Coalition of Civil Society Organizations Put MTN, ORANGE, NEXTTEL, CAMTEL on Scan

The survey was presented to the Bamenda public at the Ayaba Hotel on August 26, 2015. Presenting the survey results assessing the services offered to consumers/impact on job creation by telecommunication industry within North West, Awah Cletus Fobuzi disclosed that questionnaires were carried on three thousand consumers of products and services. The survey involved MTN, ORANGE, NEXTTEL and CAMTEL.
According to the Awah Cletus the survey seeks to ascertain the impact on job creation by the industry as well as its contribution in corporate giving. Though some services of the various providers had been very vital, he noted that some had left consumers with huge liabilities. He mentioned the fact that it is common to put to phones side by side in an area, with the screen indicating that there is network on both phones but when you make a call, a recorded voice tells you the number is not available. Besides, call breakages and undue drops are common phenomenon.
Harping on the corporate social responsibility of these companies, the survey raises doubts as to why a company that makes more than FCFA 10 billion in the region per month does not even employ more than 15 workers. The report also noticed a complete absence of corporate giving by these companies. More so, there is discrimination in the employment of workers especially Anglophones. However, the survey also prescribed some remedies to the prevailing situation as well as suggested how it could be exploited by stakeholders of the industry to optimize services offered to costumers in order to profit all. Shufai Njilahngotong (Njilah Isaiah Tata) Quits Active Politics

Shufai Njilahngotong, formerly a frontline militant of the CPDM (Donga Mantung II Section Ndu) has decided to quit politics. He was an Executive member of the Section and had also played a very vital role for the growth of the party. The decision was made public by his son, Tata Kwawi Mbinglo. In the declaration he states that “In view to keep a lasting legacy and set an example for other traditional rulers in Cameroon to emulate, My Dad Shufai Njilahngotong, has officially announced his Decision to stay away from Frontline politics so as to objectively rule his people as a God chosen leader. This decision comes up at a time when many people expected otherwise”. Shufai Njilahngotong it should be noted hail from Fuh-Ndu. He is also the Divisional Delegate of Transport for Meme Division, in the South West Region.

Tongues are still waging in Ndu as to why he decided to quit politics. Many of his supporters who were expecting to see him as one of the contenders for the position of Section President are yet to recover from the shock. However, youths all over have described his quitting active politics as gentle move to stay away from partisan politics. Expressionists are of the opinion that his decision could be linked to the politics of hatred that is chopping and dividing elite(s) of Donga Mantung Division.Others say the decision is wise and that other traditional rulers should emulate him.

Who is Shufai Njilahngotong

Njila Isaiah Tata aka Shufai Njilangotong is a multifaceted. He is a traditionalist, a village head, writer-musician and astute administrator has always stood against political tension and intrigues taking the minds of some politicians and has quite often decried the politics of acrimony, blackmail and hatred that characterizes politics in Donga Mantung Division in the North West Region because some people have transformed the game of politics into a sinkhole for character assassination. Njila Isaiah Tata who by the Mbum tradition was enthroned village head for Fuh in Ndu as per costume and tradition had to be called Shufai Njilangotong. Besides, he was Donga Mantung Divisional Delegate for Secondary Education where he was admired for doing uncommon things in a very common way, and an educationist who has served as principal for over 16 years before being catapulted to the position of delegate. In 2008, Njila Isaiah Tata was distinguished by Donga Mantung Association of Journalists-DOMAJ as the All Best Principal again All Round Best Divisional Delegate by The Eye Newspaper in 2011 Achievement Award. He later moved to the Ministry of Transport, where he is presently Divisional Delegate for Transport in Meme Division of the South West Region.  When makes him different from others is that ever since he joined politics, his style was very singular from the usual politics of hatred, acrimony, bitterness and blackmail that has characterized Donga Mantung politicians.

He has been described as a man of additional qualities. Unlike others he always busy round the clock. As a seasoned administrator, he believes like Immanuel Kant that “the more we are busy, the more we feel we are alive and contributing for the welfare of others”. His enlightening background coupled with his dedication to be perfect has made her to transform the principle of edification for work into the principle of teaching through work. As a Christian Baptist Christian, Njila Isaiah believes like Martin Luther King that “working is praying”.

Excellence is a mind set. It is a way of life. It should be part of our character just like there is salt in any soup. It is something that we cultivate as children from primary school and continue to nurture and use until we die. Excellence is a measure of how well we are doing things. It is a scale that runs from very poor, to poor, good, very good and EXCELLENT. If we do not strive towards excellence, we decay and fail to grow as it is happening in Cameroon now.

We started with South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan on the same day. Today, they have beaten us and they feed us and tell us what to do and should not do because they have demonstrated excellence in character, technology, work ethics and customer service. The problem of Cameroon is not corruption, tribalism, or favoritism. It is not because we are black and were born very stupid. It is because we lack excellence in our school systems, our character and our work ethics. We lack truth.

CAPBIYA  is here to put us and help us get unto the path of excellence, merit and truth through the reprogramming of our youths. We have to rethink and adopt rigor and moralization. We have to delete what is not working and grow and sow seeds of excellence. That is what H.E. President Biya wants for us to get to 2035. If you think we wrong, go ask him. He does not like us telling him lies and deceiving him when we fail in our work and assignments. That is what he referred to as inertia.

CAPBIYA is the light and salt of Cameroon. We must all be positive in our thoughts about self, others, our communities and the nation. We must be productive, patriotic and love each other.

CAPBIYA advocates for GOOD GOVERNANCE based on Truth, Love and Service (sacrifice).

Our youths must be properly trained to be producers of wealth and wellbeing in our high schools, universities and higher institutes of learning. Our children must be well brought up at home in the Fear of God. Currently, there is entrenched individualism associated with lack of appropriate knowledge and skills for our youths to be productive and competitive in the world market. That is why we are poor, underdeveloped, lack jobs and crime abounds.

‘EXCELLENCE’ in the ‘CAPACITY BUILDING OF YOUTHS’ is the key. If we have failed in Cameroon, it is because this ingredient was and is missing from our ‘cookery’ for we have been ‘boiling tasteless youths’ for 60 years. What good is a soup without salt?

WHAT DO WE NEED TO SUCCEED AS INDIVIDUALS AND AS A NATION?

We need STRATEGY!

1)    We MUST ‘Think’ and ‘Work’ with God’s principles of Truth, Love and Trust. We must have Faith in Him and ourselves.

2)    Each one of us should use the 4Ps.

You must discover your PURPOSE on earth. Why did God create you? Are you here just to eat, drink and look for women or are you here to solve a problem? Which problems do you like to solve that give you pleasure? That is your purpose for being on earth. Work around it, study that field and create a company which will offer jobs to youths and solve problems of common good in that area. That is your purpose for being born. Nature will pay you for solving problems. You are not paid for graduating from a university with a degree if you are unable to solve a problem.

You need to have PASSION or a burning desire for your purpose. This is what will make you get out of bed on a cold night, climb mountains and cross rivers risking your life because you are motivated from the inside by that drive to achieve your purpose. That is why we have bad teachers in our schools because they have no purpose in teaching. They looked for a job which did not tie with their God given purpose. That is why there is so much corruption, no job satisfaction, rudeness and poor quality of our work in Cameroon. Purpose and passion do not agree in our spirit.

PLAN. Planning is important. What resources do you have to achieve your purpose? What are the time frames? What can you do on your own and who has to help you and at what stage? Do you want to be spoon-fed all your life or when do you intend to be on your feet? Where would you borrow the money from? Are you sincere or just a 419? Can you be trusted? Is your word as solid as gold? Are you thinking of others in your plans or just about yourself and your family? Are you ready to help others and work for common good? Make your objectives simple, measurable, attainable, reasonable and time bound. Be accountable. Know your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Always reassess your progress and correct the fly path like a pilot as you go along. Revise your notes, get proper training, seek advice from credible sources and be true to yourself. Do not suffer from inferiority complexes and doubts.

Present your plans to God in ‘PRAYER’ on a daily basis. Whatever activity you do, ask if God approves of it before you execute. If you are to take a bribe and you know God does not like it, then do not take it. Ask the people who take bribes and they will tell you they are unhappy irrespective of the material things they have. Having things that are stolen is not growth. Dwell in God’s presence and it shall be well.

3 Have a great ATTITUDE and practice EXCELLENCE in all we think, say or do a way of life, a permanent mindset, something we rise from bed with and go back to sleep with. It should stick to us like our shadows.

4 We should learn and use the principles for success that I was taught by H.E. Christian Cardinal Tumi. We should like work. We should like work that is well done. We must be honest at all times and should have self discipline in our lives. We must pray to our God always and finally we must respect the environment.

5 Get up and D.I.Y.( Do It Yourself).Do not wait for the French, the Chinese and South Koreans to work for you. Learn and get the skills and capacities to grow your own rice, build your bridges, be your very best professors of technology and engineering; build your own cars made in Cameroon, build your roads yourselves. If you cannot do these things yourselves, you will always be poor.

6 Be Creative. Create the industries and the jobs you want. Nobody is stopping you. You are stopping yourself because you think you can’t. There is no room for inferiority complex. Learn the right professional skills, top that up with entrepreneurial know-how and use them to grow. Copy the Bamilekes.

7 Stop the negative energy.  Inferiority complex will kill you. You think the minister’s son is better than you? Because you were born black does not say that you are less intelligent than the white American. Be yourself and trust yourself. Avail yourself of same opportunities in life and you will make it. Ghana, Nigeria and others had independence at the same time with us. Ghana has made her first car and it is already on the market. It is made by Ghanians and has its brand name. Please google-search and see for yourselves.

8 Forgive and forget. Think positively and go the extra mile in whatever good job you do.

9 Study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

10 Be the light and the salt of the earth. Good Christians and Muslims can change Cameroon for the better in two years if we want to. That is what the Cardinal said.

11 We are all born equal and no Cameroonian is more Cameroonian than the others. We have equal rights and opportunities according to our talents and faith in God. None is a slave. No Anglophones, no Francophones; no Beti, no Nordiste.

Yes we can! If and only if we stand up together, reason together and work together like Cameroonians under one leadership with patriotism and love for each other and our beloved Cameroon. We have had independence from France and Britain. However, we need independence from our low mental states, technological independence, financial independence and independence from telling lies and deceiving ourselves. Your are truly independent when you can tell the truth even to yourself.

Above all, we should learn to make good use of our time. Time waits for no one and we have learnt how to perfectly waste it in Cameroon. We are hardly ever early for any activity except when it comes to having free food and drinks. A stitch in time saves nine. Sow in due season and reap a good harvest. Go against nature and you have a rendez-vous with poverty, illness and crime.

Alhadji Abdou Borno Kamfon: The Postive Alteration to Head Donga Mantung II Section (Ndu)

The National Chirman of the CPDM has launched the process to reorganize all the basic structures of the party nationwide and the Diaspora. One of the early birds to declare his intentions in Donga Mantung Division is Alhadji Abdou Borno Kamfon. In a Press Release issued at weekend, Alhadji Borno declared his intentions to contest for the position of section President for Donga Mantung II Section, Ndu. Even though a myrade of candidates have been declaring so in hidding, Abdou Borno did so in public to the hearing of all and sundry.

Abdou Borno has a wide range of knowledge and jam-packed with grassroot experiences on proximity politics. He started his rise as Sub Section executive in Tabenken, then rose to the position of YCPDM Section President for Donga Mantung I. He worked with section Presidents like late Hon. Tamfu and Mayor Paul Ngabir before giving off his position to contest in the 2013 Municipal as CPDM Council list for Ndu.

Pundits are of the opinion that Alhadji Borno is the positive change for the CPDM party in Ndu given that is based at home and is also a cheerful giver. Besides, he knows the party’s text.(Details soon)

SDF Condemns Terrorism, Reaffirms Support to Defence, National Security in the Fight Against Boko Haram

The National Executive Committee-NEC of the Social Democratic Front-SDF met on August 1, 2015 in Bamenda under the chairmanship of Ni John Fru Ndi, SDF chieftain. During the meeting that took place at weekend, NEC members condemned terrorism and reaffirmed it support to the national defence and security forces. NEC also called on the population to be vigilant and report any suspects to security officials. 

Reorganization of CPDM Basic Organs: Lucrative Opportunity for Political Kingpins, Marabouts to Chop

I have often been wondering whether CPDM Section Presidents (including resource persons, central committee delegates etc) are truthful democrats who have had democratic principles ingrained in them from infancy. The Chairman of the CPDM has just announced the reorganization of the basic organs of the party and the level of heat around the country is immeasurable. Coaches just developed wings over night while some butterflies already think themselves birds. This is not strange any way. The services of political kingpins who are specialized in influence peddling will obviously be needed to a pay. Those who are specialized in black magic to win elections are already knocking the doors of marabouts. It is even alleged that some marabouts from the North West have already taken off for Yaounde. Their services are on high demand as the struggles as to who should be elected might likely go deadly in some localities.

This is the time CPDM politicians must also learn to be democrats, not vindictive and self-serving tyrants. The sine qua non reason why the militants should overwhelmingly against this or that aspirant is gradually gaining grounds nationwide. Prior to some aspirants are already being treated as irrelevant. With the way things are going, the CPDM is all but this process could lead to more decamping for this or that reason.

Thomas Jefferson, one of the men who penned what became known as the American Constitution, once said that "government exists for the interests of the governed, not for the governors." So does leadership. Yet those who wear arrogantly the CPDM have proven to either be after something or running away from something.

I still remember the famous “Generation 2011” like it was yesterday. You know, the CPDM as observed like to see people tearing themselves apart. The question as to why the Central Committee cannot build a formidable political bloc devoid of the usual infighting and divided loyalties; a new sociopolitical platform that will not be driven by lust for power or wealth continue to beg for answers. But by a burning desire to represent personal ego, much room is given for influence peddlers and political witch hunters to excel. I usually analogue politicians and economic gangsters will use cash to carry all the votes. The end result will be that the party will be managed from someone’s pocket based in Yaounde. Chinua Achebe in his magnum opus, Things Fall Apart: puts, "The bird says that since hunters have learned to shoot without missing, he has learned to fly without perching." The reorganization of the CPDM basic organs will bring into the scene a new breed of politicians, the UFOs. They fly at imaginable speed and with cash in hand they will behave like birds to grab all votes to the detriment of the party and grassroot militants.
